About Walrus

Walrus is a decentralized storage & data-availability network built by Mysten Labs. It stores large binary “blobs” efficiently using erasure coding (≈4–5× replication vs. 100×+ on full-replication systems), coordinates staking and payments on Sui, and secures itself via delegated proof-of-stake with the WAL token. It’s designed for high-performance, deletable storage, ideal for apps that need to write, read, verify, and manage data on-chain.

We’re early supporters of Walrus and part of the active operator cohort. Our goal is keep stake distributed among independent operators and help Walrus remain resilient as usage grows.

Learn the basics in our explainer

How to Stake WAL

On Walrus you don’t send WAL to an address to stake. Instead you delegate inside the Walrus staking app to the Chainflow operator.

Open the app

Go to stake-wal.wal.app (double-check the URL to avoid phishing).

Connect your wallet

Use a Sui-compatible wallet (e.g., Sui Wallet, Suiet, Ethos) that holds WAL (and a small amount of SUI for gas).

Sort validators A → Z

In Current Committee, set Sort: A → Z to make finding us easier.

Select Chainflow

Scroll to Chainflow, verify the entry (name/commission), and click Stake.

Stake and confirm

Enter the WAL amount, confirm in your wallet, and you’re done.

You’ll see your position under Your Staked WAL.

Tips

  • Rewards and unstaking are epoch-based (changes take effect next epoch).
  • Always keep a little SUI for transaction fees.

Or you can also delegate to us by connecting your wallet to the official WAL explorer walruscan.com. Just click on the Stake button and connect walruscan.com. your wallet.

FAQ

Why should I stake with Chainflow? +

Because we’re independent, values-driven, and early operators in Walrus. We advocate for smaller, mission-aligned validators and serve in the active operator cohort—helping keep power from concentrating.

How do I unstake (undelegate) my WAL? +

Walrus uses 14-day epochs and an epoch cutoff. To exit, submit your unstake before the midpoint of the current epoch so it’s queued for the next epoch; your WAL then unlocks at the end of the following epoch. In practice, the fastest turnaround is about 7 days (if you submit just before the midpoint). Miss the cutoff and you’ll wait roughly another full epoch (~14 days) before release.

How much WAL can I stake? +

No fixed min/max from us. Stake any amount; we treat all delegators equally.

How long do I need to stake for? +

No fixed lock. Walrus works in ~2-week epochs; to earn in the next one, stake before the midpoint of the current epoch. You can unstake anytime, subject to the epoch delay above.

After staking, I can't see my WAL, where did it go? +

It’s in your staked position, visible under Your Staked WAL in the app (wallets also show staked vs. liquid).

Is my WAL safe? +

Yes. Staking is non-custodial - you keep your keys in your wallet. Always use the official staking app URL and verify the operator name “Chainflow” and the Node Id before confirming.

How consistent is the staking yield? +

Rewards are epoch-based and proportional to your share of stake on a node in the Current Committee. Network usage (storage fees) and emissions affect yield; compounding is manual.

What are the tech specs of the validator? +

Our Sui validator runs on enterprise-grade custom hardware:

  • CPU: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2630L v4 20 core @ 1.80GHz
  • RAM: 128 GB

This ensures high throughput handling, maximum uptime, and consistent rewards.
